In January of 2017, Brenda was brought to Coreluv by social services in Haiti after they learned she had been abandoned at the hospital. She was eight months old and had a rare condition known as hydrocephalus, where cerebral fluid surrounds the brain and spinal cord.
Discovering that NO ONE could properly provide the care Brenda needed, she was placed at the Myan Children’s Village. There was no question that she needed to be placed in a home where she could be loved and cared for as every child should be.
We are thankful that God allows Coreluv to care for children with rare medical conditions and special needs, those who may often be overlooked because of the care they require. We praise God that social services brought Brenda to us because they knew she would receive the care she deserves.
In February of 2017, Brenda received a much needed surgery that placed a shunt in her head to relieve pressure and drain excess fluid. Today, we are witnessing improvements in Brenda as she can make eye contact and smile. We continue to believe God for complete healing! Coreluv’s mamas and children have lavished Brenda with love as they spend most of their time holding her, huddling around her crib, and bursting with joy when they see Brenda smiling. We are so grateful for the family God has blessed her with at the Myan Children’s Village.

Defending the Orphan goes beyond one day, one week, one month, even beyond one year. It is a daily call to care for and pray for these children. We could NOT do what we do without each and every one of our partners. It takes all of us together to make a difference in the lives of these children, daily providing their six basic needs of clean water, proper food, healthcare, education, job skills and Christ-centered loving home.
