Let us enter His presence with Thanksgiving. Psalm 95:2

The word enter means to come into, to set foot in, to cross the threshold of, or to gain access to.

Did you know that Thanksgiving is like a GATE to the presence of God?

We can think of it like this…

When we are thankful, we come into God’s presence.

When we are thankful, we set foot in God’s presence.

When we are thankful we cross the threshold of God’s presence.

When we are thankful we gain access to God’s presence.

Let me give you an example. I was sitting at my kitchen table recently eating breakfast, knowing that I needed to spend some time with the Lord in prayer and in the Bible.

If prayer intimidates or overwhelms anyone because you don’t know where to start, let me put you at ease!

Just OPEN THE GATE!!

It really is that simple. Just tell God what you’re thankful for! Because you’re not always going to FEEL like praying.

So I began to tell God that morning what I was thankful for …

“Lord, I’m thankful for my husband! Lord, I’m so thankful for my kids! Lord, I’m thankful for my home!”

The more I thanked Him, the more I felt His presence. The more I thanked Him, the more tender my heart became, until a floodgate of tears came over me and it felt as if I was ushered into the presence of God.

Oh, we have SO much to be thankful for!

Hellen Keller was blind, deaf and mute; yet, she wrote this: “So much has been given to me, I have no time to ponder over that which has been denied.”

She opened the gate!

Don’t allow the weights of this world to overcrowd the blessings God has bestowed upon you!! As 2018 comes to a close, let’s recall all the things we have to be thankful for. Let’s make it a habit this next year to open the gate!!!

Defending the Orphan goes beyond one day, one week, one month, even beyond one year. It is a daily call to care for and pray for the children with whom we have been entrusted. We could NOT do what we do without each and every one of our partners. It takes all of us together to make a difference in the lives of these children, daily providing their six basic needs of clean water, proper food, healthcare, education, job skills, and a Christ-centered loving home. If you are not already an Orphan Care Partner, you can become one today on our Orphan Care Page.
